Based out of Los Angeles, California, the Kings have been a part of the NHL since 1967. Representing their home stadium of the Staples Center, the Kings play as part of the Western Conference and Pacific Division. While wearing their staple black, silver, and white coloration, the team has managed two Stanley Cup wins, three Conference Championships, and one Division Championship and currently show promise for more projected potential wins.
The team's logo showcases the letters used to abbreviate their city, "LA", and a crown in the team's color scheme. Their mascot is Bailey, a six-foot-tall lion named in honor of Director of Pro Scouting Garnet "Ace" Bailey, who died in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. Before Bailey, the team was represented by Kingston the Snow Leopard. The Kings have a rivalry with the Anaheim Ducks that has been dubbed the Freeway Face-Off since the teams both practice in the Los Angeles area and are separated by Interstate 5.
The team has retired five numbers in honor of Rob Blake, Marcel Dionne, Dave Taylor, Luc Robitaille, and Rogie Vachon. They also acknowledge ties with seventeen Hall of Famers, including Brian Kilrea, Steve Shutt, and Grant Fuhr, as well as three Hall of Fame Builders: Roger Neilson, Jake Milford, and Red Kelley.
